ICDS at Penn State seeks a talented and goal-oriented individual to join our engineering team as an HPC Engineering Project Manager. You will be an integral contributor to a dynamic and growing team of specialists supported by an exciting $60 million Penn State investment in ICDS cyber-ecosystem, called “Roar”. Penn State’s elite researchers use our high-performance research infrastructure to solve real-world problems by conducting simulations, data mining, and other high-performance computing operations. You will participate as an important member of our engineering team in supporting this work. As our HPC Engineering Project Manager, you will:
You will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions to complex problems as it relates to specifying compute, storage, and networking hardware needs. You will directly contribute to the procurement, deployment, operational, and decommissioning lifecycle of the hardware infrastructure. In this role, you will be a primary source of knowledge on the current physical footprint of the system. This role also includes planning for future expansions of the infrastructure. Education and Experience: This job will be filled as an Engineering Project Manager 3 or 4 depending on the successful candidate’s competencies, experience and education or an equivalent combination. Typically, a level 3 requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Specific duties of this position require US citizenship. The successful candidate will demonstrate that they are proactive and will be able to contribute as a member of the systems engineering team to develop plans, project schedules, requirements, and documentation. This job requires the ability to communicate clearly and to work as a member of the systems engineering team in a collaborative environment and actively contribute to the completion of team goals and assigned tasks. You will need to collaborate and communicate with team members, scientific users, ICDS leadership, and vendors in this role. Our desired qualifications and skills include:
