New User Training – Submitting Batch Jobs via the Command Line
-
- Building upon the overview information offered in the January 23rd session, attendees will learn how to connect to and submit jobs using the Slurm scheduler system. This session will offer an overview of how to write job scheduler scripts to set up automated batch jobs. Additionally, we will cover the environmental module system and how to access applications hosted in our central software stack. It is recommended that attendees have a basic familiarity with Bash (the Linux command line). If you have never worked with Bash before, we recommend reviewing this lesson prior to attending.
- Topics covered will include:
- Using the `module` command to access software installed on ICDS systems
- Overview of options to install custom software and scripting libraries for R and python
- Requesting resources for batch and interactive jobs using the Slurm scheduler
- Best practices for resource requests and job troubleshooting
- Where to go for help and questions
