ICS associate helped discover structure of perovskite crystal in NSF and ICS funded study

Posted on December 6, 2018

ICS associate Susan Sinnott, department head and professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and a team of materials scientists from Penn State, Cornel, and Argonne National Laboratory have visualized the 3D atomic and electron density structure of the most complex perovskite crystal structure system.

Perovskites are minerals that are of interest as electrical insulators, semiconductors, metals or superconductors, depending on the arrangement of their atoms and electrons.

Learn more about Sinnott’s involvement, how the research was conducted, the implications of their findings, more about the funding for this project and more on Penn State News.
